As you can see from this picture, the babies are not that small anymore! They get bigger and bigger every day. It seems like just yesterday that they were tiny pinkies!

Dog, Cat, Or Rat?
You may wonder why I posted a picture of dog and cat items. This blog is supposed to be about rats, right? Yes, it is. That is the reason I took this picture. Believe it or not, these things are meant for my ratties.
Wait a minute, hold it right there!! Would a rat really play with a cat toy or chew a bone? And is a dog treat something they would enjoy eating? The answer to both of these questions is yes. Rats love all of these things! Bones are great for their teeth and can keep them entertained for hours. Also, cat toys are so fun to play with and dog treats are a super tasty snack they would never pass up!
I hope this little tidbit of information helps those of you who own a destructive rat. This can be a hard problem to cope with. If your rat is provided with proper toys (they also enjoy bird toys) to keep them happy and stimulated, you shouldn't have any problems in this area. My ratties always have lots of interesting things to play with and they have never once attempted to chew through their cage. :-)

Catching Up...
Hi everyone! This post is long overdue. Sorry for keeping you all waiting! I have been super busy lately.
I have a lot of catching up to do. First off, the babies are fully weaned now. They are eating dry food and are really loving it! The little munchkins are certainly growing at a very rapid pace. They are so happy and love playing with the adult rats. The big boys and girls have been teaching the little ones how to behave. I think they are beginning to catch on. ;-)
For those of you who follow my blog, the real reason I am writing this post is to let everyone know I finished building my rat cage. I am so excited! It turned out so nice and all my rats (especially the babies) absolutely love it! Wait a minute... did I just say that I finished building the cage? Let me rephrase that: My dad finished building the cage. Yes, it's true. My dad did most of the building and I helped him. That's not how it was supposed to be in the beginning. But, I wasn't exactly sure how to go about the building process. That's when Dad stepped in and showed me what to do. And I am so glad he did! I never could have built it without him. Thanks for all your hard work, Dad! I will post instructions on how to build the cage as soon as I get the chance.
