A Sweet Girl

I decided to write a post every time one of my ratties passes away. I'll start with Bonnie...

I adopted Bonnie on Feb. 20th, 2014. She was severely abused before joining Riverside Rattery. Naturally, she was a rather timid gal. But even though she had a rough past, she was a very gentle ratty.
Bonnie died on April 1st, 2014. :-( She just couldn't hang on anymore; the abuse had caught up with her. I am so glad she was with me for that short time. She was definitely a special ratty!

Bonnie was pregnant when I adopted her. She is the start of my Amber line. :-)

The Great Grandma

Raven is GMa to Maria and Great GMa to Lilly! It took me a little while to capture a fairly decent picture. ;-)
By the way, I am still planning on writing a post about treating ratty illnesses. I will get around to it soon!

Rattery Update

Hi, everyone! I haven't been doing much blogging lately. Sorry about that- life has been busy...
The ratties are doing great! They are very happy and all the 'oldies' seem to be in good health. ;-)
Most of the babies have gone to their new homes now. I have two girls and one boy left. They are all very friendly ratties and I hope the right adopters come along soon!
I have been itching to write an informational blog post. I don't have time for that today, but will get around to it soon! I decided it would be a good idea to write about treating ratty illnesses. It can be hard to find information on the internet. So, I am happy to share all that I have learned over the past couple years. Be on the lookout for a lengthy post!

A Change Of Plans...

Due to personal matters, I decided to take a break from breeding for a few months. My next litter will be born sometime in October (go to my Available Ratties page for more information). Until that time, I decided to downsize on my rattery.
It turns out Nutmeg is not pregnant. I cancelled her litter altogether. For those of you who were on my waiting list, I am very sorry!

A Mischievous Boy!

Woody was being naughty during his free range time! The story goes something like this...
As usual, Woody was very happy when it was his turn to explore the rat room. As soon as I set him on the floor, he began hopping around like a little bunny. ;-) After about fifteen minutes of playtime, I decided it was time for Woody to return to his cage. Well, I had a problem. The little ratty was nowhere to be found! I searched for a bit and then decided to wait until he came out of hiding. That's when I heard a suspicious scratching noise...

After investigating, I discovered he was in an empty cereal box feasting on the few remaining crumbs! I think he was pretty proud of himself. Rats are always full of surprises...

Baby Update

Maria's babies have been growing unbelievably fast! They are fully weaned now. It is so funny to watch them eat ratty food. Those rat blocks look so big in their tiny 'hands'. ;-) All the babies have been enjoying their time with the adults,  but the little guys seem to like it more than the rest! The big boys have been teaching them to behave.
Due to personal matters, a couple people decided not to adopt the babies they reserved. So, there are a few munchkins available for adoption. They are very sweet rats!
