Dog, Cat, Or Rat?

You may wonder why I posted a picture of dog and cat items. This blog is supposed to be about rats, right? Yes, it is. That is the reason I took this picture. Believe it or not, these things are meant for my ratties.

Wait a minute, hold it right there!! Would a rat really play with a cat toy or chew a bone? And is a dog treat something they would enjoy eating? The answer to both of these questions is yes. Rats love all of these things! Bones are great for their teeth and can keep them entertained for hours. Also, cat toys are so fun to play with and dog treats are a super tasty snack they would never pass up!

I hope this little tidbit of information helps those of you who own a destructive rat. This can be a hard problem to cope with. If your rat is provided with proper toys (they also enjoy bird toys) to keep them happy and stimulated, you shouldn't have any problems in this area. My ratties always have lots of interesting things to play with and they have never once attempted to chew through their cage. :-)
